Bella Vista Motel Fox Glacier is easy to find, situated in a quiet central location on the main road. From the moment you arrive, you'll enjoy the convenience of being located in close proximity to the village for shops, restaurants and activity providers. Fox Glacier Guiding is only 120 metres away and access to the Glowworms and Minehaha Track is literally right next door to our motel. This Fox Glacier glowworms are a special treat for those keen for a safe, after-dark adventure.
Our Fox Glacier motel has ample safe parking so you can explore on foot.
Our superior smoke free Fox Glacier accommodation includes a variety of studios and one-bedroom units. Our purpose-built units have been designed with convenience and comfort in mind. You have a choice of king, queen or single beds. All units have double glazing and black out curtains which ensures a quiet night’s sleep.
At our motel in Fox Glacier, unlimited free wireless internet is available with a work desk in every room. Units vary from tea and toast-making facilities to those with microwave kitchenettes and others with full cooking facilities.

After two rewarding years running Bella Vista in Wānaka, Tom and Melissa were excited when the opportunity arose to purchase the Bella Vista motel in Fox Glacier. They embraced it wholeheartedly, expanding their passion for hospitality to New Zealand’s wild West Coast. Together with their dedicated managers, Karen and Kevin, they now welcome guests from around the world to both stunning locations—offering the same genuine warmth and high standard of service they’re proud to be known for.
Fox Glacier, West Coast - Your Destination
The stunning blue ice of Fox Glacier, located on New Zealand's West Coast, showcases the dramatic landscape that surrounds it, including lush rainforests and rugged mountains. The glacier stretches down from the Southern Alps, providing breath taking views of its icy formations and the rich biodiversity of the region.
An array of attractions and adventure sports are readily available around Fox Glacier. Experience guided glacier walks, take a thrilling helicopter ride for bird's-eye views, or explore the nearby Lake Matheson, famous for its mirror-like reflections. For those seeking more adventure, hiking and cycling trails traverse the enchanting forests and hills around the glacier. Fox Glacier is also a gateway to exploring the pristine wilderness of Westland Tai Poutini National Park.
This area serves as a perfect base for exploring other nearby wonders; Franz Josef Glacier is just a short drive away, and the vibrant township of Hokitika, known for its art and crafts, is only an hour's journey (30 kms) along the scenic coastal road.
Our Community Involvement
A small community like Fox Glacier relies heavily on the few people who live there permanently to keep the basic services running. Both our staff and we volunteer in multiple community groups. We also sponsor many local events through donations and raffle prizes. Additionally, we try to source as many of our supplies as locally as possible to help support other local businesses. We all rely on each other's support to survive. All of the planting in our gardens comes from local West Coast nurseries. We also donate some of the profits from our guest laundries to local nature initiatives.

At Bella Vista Fox Glacier, we aim to reduce our impact on the environment because it’s the right thing to do, ensuring its preservation for future generations. As part of this community, we want to actively contribute and play our role in protecting the environment.
We proudly operate our business in a manner that considers our responsibilities to sustainable tourism while committing to the Tiaki Promise. We do this by striving to minimize energy consumption, reduce chemical use, eliminate plastic bags, recycle as much as possible, and prevent food waste from going to landfill.
Managing our company’s carbon footprint and reducing carbon emissions reflect our commitment to a sustainable future and our goal of being the most sustainable and environmentally friendly motel in Fox Glacier. Measuring our footprint helps us understand what creates carbon output and allows us to develop ways to reduce it.
Bella Vista Fox Glacier is a 4 star Qualmark rated property and awarded Silver status under the Sustainable Tourism Business criteria which is recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). Founded in 2007, the GSTC is a United Nations-initiated programme which sets the global baseline standards for sustainable travel and tourism.
